Mary Maxine Cox, 74, of Coachella died June 18, 1997 at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio.
She was born Jan. 5 1923, in Carthage Mo., to Luella Miller and John Heck.
She was a cook with the Coachella Valley Unified School District for 20 years.
She was a member of the Women's Club, past president of the Women's Auxiliary for the American Legion, and was active in valley senior centers. Survivors include two sons, Richard Cox of Ohio and Ron Cox of Indio; a daughter, Cynthia Keelin of Orcutt; a sister, Dorotha Engle of Coachella; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Cox, in 1979.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry Funeral Home in Indio. Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Indio.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to senior centers in Indio, Coachella or Palm Desert.
