When she was getting married to William Daugherty, Sarah consistently asserted that she was born around 1840, and that her oldest daughter was younger than she was. So, it appears that she was pretending to be younger than she was. (That, or, as she got older, she simply wasn't remembering her age very well, but so far, the idea that she was pretending to be younger than she was appears to be making more sense.) | |||
