Notes
It is interesting to note that a part of the family here moves, in company with others, to DeWitt, Missouri, a town with some interesting Mormon history. The move is recorded to be in 1853, however, some years after the trouble in DeWitt. The son named Dewitt is somewhat curious, having been born before the move, and then moving to a town with his name when nearly an adult. He was named, however, around the same time as the trouble in DeWitt. (Possibly an expression of anti-Mormon sympathies?)
To this day the town is tiny, smaller it would seem than when the Mormons were there. Wikipedia gave the population as 120. (Due to the listed population density, the size of the town must be tiny indeed.)
The 1850 census lists mother, Elizabeth between children Dewitt and Adam.
