Notes
Nancy Cox is important as, together with her brother, John Cox, she helps to confirm the identity of their parents. Her son, Daniel Root, Sr. was well known as having some special relationship with the Cox family. His family often lived in the vicinity of the family of Daniel Root Cox (son of John Cox) as they moved around. Daniel Root Cox is also expected to have been named after Daniel Root.
When Daniel Root's mother (our Nancy Cox here) was identified as a Cox, it was expected that she would be tied into Daniel Root Cox's family somehow.
Thus, when William Cox's will mentions a daughter Nancy Root, it gives some weight to the assumption that William's son John is, in fact, our John Cox, father of Daniel Root Cox.
