Cox or Callums

Originally, Barthena Callums here was listed as Barthena Cox, Daughter of William and Jemima Cox.

However, there are conflicting interpretations of the abstract of William Cox's Will. By some it has been interpreted that Barthena, and others listed with her, are actually children of Lucy Cox. Investigation of Barthena seemed to supported this interpretation, inasmuch as it seemed impossible that Barthena could be William's daughter because she was born long after William's other children.

History of Livingston County contradicts this conclusion by referring to Barthena's sister, Nancy Cox as a former Miss Cox. Also, John Cox is found in 1820 with 2 slave girls, matching the inheritance that John Cox/Callums was given in William Cox's will.
